Jessica Sheerin, MS
Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern
My counseling philosophy is rooted in believing every individual has the potential for growth, healing, and positive change. As a counselor, I provide a safe, nonjudgmental, and supportive space for clients to explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I draw heavily from positive psychology and humanistic approaches, emphasizing the importance of focusing on clients' strengths, values, and goals rather than solely on their problems and weaknesses.
Clients are unique, so I strive to tailor my approach to their needs and preferences with somatic healing techniques, CBT, DBT, and ACT. In my counseling sessions, I aim to create a collaborative and empowering relationship with clients where they feel heard, respected, and valued.
A key component of effective counseling is helping clients develop a sense of self-awareness and self-compassion. By cultivating a greater understanding of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, clients can learn to be more accepting and kind towards themselves and develop a more positive outlook on life.
