Mental Health Counselor Student Intern

As a student mental health counseling intern, I am dedicated to providing high-quality, person-centered mental health care to my clients. I am collaborative and creative, so each client will receive individualized care that is tailored to their strengths and needs. I aim to help my clients find peace and comfort in their relationships, to set and achieve their mental health goals, and to find balance in their lives. I provide a safe and comfortable space to empower my clients in this journey.

Nikki sees clients of all ages and works with families.

  • Depression: I am trained to help individuals understand and manage symptoms of depression, including feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and changes in appetite or sleep patterns. I use evidence-based techniques, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns and develop coping strategies.**
     

  • Anxiety: I work with individuals to understand and manage anxiety symptoms, including excessive worry, fear, and avoidance behaviors. I use a collaborative approach to help clients identify triggers and develop relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing and progressive muscle relaxation.**
     

  • Eating Disorders: I am committed to providing a supportive and non-judgmental space for individuals struggling with eating disorders, including anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder. I use a person-centered approach to help clients develop a positive body image and develop healthy eating habits.**
     

  • Life Transitions: I understand that significant life changes, such as moving, job changes, or relationship transitions, can be challenging. I am here to support individuals as they navigate these transitions and develop coping strategies to manage stress and uncertainty.**
     

  • Trauma: I am trained to work with individuals who have experienced trauma, including physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. I use a trauma-informed approach to create a safe and supportive environment, and I work collaboratively with clients to develop coping strategies and process their experiences.**
     

  • Mindfulness: I believe that mindfulness practices, such as meditation and deep breathing, can be powerful tools for managing stress and anxiety. I incorporate mindfulness techniques into my sessions to help clients develop greater self-awareness and relaxation.**
     

  • Stress: I understand that stress is a common experience for many individuals. I work with clients to identify sources of stress and develop coping strategies, such as time management and boundary setting, to manage stress and improve overall well-being.**
     

  • Families: I am committed to supporting families and individuals of all ages. I work with families to develop communication skills, set boundaries, and manage conflicts in a healthy and constructive manner.**
     

  • Children: I am trained to work with children and adolescents, using play therapy and creative techniques to help them express and process their emotions.**
     

  • Moms: I understand the unique challenges that mothers face, including the pressures of parenting, work-life balance, and self-care. I am here to support mothers as they navigate these challenges and develop strategies to prioritize their own well-being.
